Koutetsu Jeeg or also known as Steel/Iron Jeeg, was
released back in 1975 coinciding with its animation TV show. Many other magnemo-11
jointing figures were later released by Takara to include Ga-Keen, Baratak, and even into
another line which we are all familiar with...Microman! Steel Jeeg is the
"grandfather" of magnemo figures and is an excellent addition anyone's
collection.
This re-issue version of Jeeg was released in 1998 and has
the same packaging and parts as the original. Thus far Takara has only re-released
one other original figure in the Jeeg line which is Panzeroid. You'll find out more
about him on another page. Takara has also released different (special editions)
versions of Jeeg which is Clear (released in 1998) and Black (released in 2000). I
hope Takara continues to re-issue other characters such as his Jet Vehicle called Big
Shooter as well as other attachments to create Earth, Sky, and Marine Jeeg. I forgot
to mention that Jeeg has also been written/translated in English as Geag.
Jeeg is made up many colors; Red, White, Blue, Yellow, and
Green. There are a total of five magnetic joints with two at the hips, two at the
shoulders, and one at the neck. Jeeg has various "firing" weapons which
include shooting fists activated by buttons on his forearms, belly firing missile
activated with a button on his back, then finally a jet pack with two engines. These
jets also convert into drill attachments. This pack connects to a harness that then
connects to a port on his back. Jeeg comes with an extra set of fists and a total of
three belly missiles. Two Yellow jointing attachments are also used for the
jet/drill attachment that allows you to connect them to his shoulders or hips depending
upon how you plan on using the attachments.
This magnetic jointing also carried into the Microman line,
old and new. Microman Jeeg, ComicRobo Mechadon, and Microman Ga-Keen were separate 3
¾" figures merged into the Microman line with Space Glider type wings, die-cast
bodies, and even vintage/re-issue style Microman hands.

Jeeg is shown here with the Jets attached to his hip joints
which give the appearance of flight with flames shooting out the engines. |

Steel Jeeg is approximately 6 1/2" in height and is displayed
here with all attachments.

Jeeg is shown here with his Jet Pack attached
to his back. There is a post on the Jet Pack which connects to Jeeg's back as well
as port holes for the Jet engine attachments.

Here's another photo with the attachment which
gives him a bazooka-like weapon. There are two yellow connectors which allow you to
connect both bazookas to each shoulder.

And lastly is Jeeg with the Jets attached to
his hips giving him legs that do not have the Jets turned on. |
