Welcome to my Cyborg pages.  As with the Beast Wars, Cyborg collecting if fairly new to me.  I just recently acquired a King Walder 2 Magma figure from Paul Lorphanpaibul of Microforever.com which made him my first Cyborg99 figure.  But let's start from the beginning.

When I first saw photos of the Henshin Cyborgs I really didn't think they were appealing ... clear plastic, GI Joe-like, alien-human/human-machine, etc.  I can't say that I wasn't curious to actually see one in person which is why I made a little effort to find one while on my toy runs.   Well I did find one, then owned one, two, three!!  I was so impressed with the entire figure for its many features; movement & poseability, 5mm ports (yeaaahhhh!!), attachments, and overall uniqueness.  And this was just the Neo Henshin Cyborgs (NHC).

Once I had the NHC I knew I had to add more to my Takara collection.  I asked other collectors about them, had contacts keep an eye out for cheaper prices, then worked on trading other figures for them.  This is how I finally got my hands on a Cyborg Double Nine (Cyborg99).  I received Magma, a King Walder 2 (Cyborg arch nemesis), from Paul L. through a trade along with other items which are displayed below.  The biggest improvement in the Cyborg99 is the increased movement.

When & who created the Cyborg figures?

Now that's a good question.  Back in the 70's Takara produced the licensed version of the GI Joe body from Hasbro.  From that point on a newly clear-figured 12" toy was created and released in Japan called "Henshin" or "Transforming" Cyborg.   Many figures, various attachments including suits and merchandise followed.  Even a spin-off of Takara's line was created in England with an 8" figure named Cyborg with limited suits & attachments.

As JimBob stated in his page, Takara created the "Combat Joe" in the 80's and released the name "New Combat Joe" to Medicom where a new figure and various suits were created.  And finally in the 90's, the "Neo Henshin Cyborg" was re-created based on the original version and has received yet another upgrade called the "Cyborg99".

Okay that's about all I have thus far and I'm sure I've made a few mistakes somewhere but hopefully I'll receive some feedback with corrections.   I'm still learning as I collect and I know it'll be a never-ending quest but I'm up to the challenge.

A special thanks to Paul Lorphanpaibul & Randall Barker for providing
valuable information on their websites related to Henshin Cyborgs!
